This month the British Hospital starts the new spasticity Policlinic, aimed to the specialized approach of this motor disorder generated by a Central Nervous System injury.
Generally, the spasticity causes difficulty on the mobility, the posture, the clothing or the corporal hygiene of the patient, which may be cause of pain.
Its treatment or therapeutic program includes education on its correct way of handling, oral medication or through the application of neuromuscular blocks as well as a fitting exercise routine.
This new policlinic is in direct command of Drs. Ligia Bacchetta, Rosina Ríos, Marta Arriola and Physiotherapy Graduate María Helena Silva, and requires a Physiatry pass to its coordination.
