The British Hospital inaugurated the Punta del Este Clinic, a building designed and built specifically for the provision of healthcare services, with a cutting-edge, eco-sustainable design that will be able to adapt to new medical and technological requirements in the future in a privileged environment. The inauguration of the Punta del Este Clinic was attended by the Mayor of Maldonado, Enrique Antía; the Interim Mayor, Luis Eduardo Pereira; and the Departmental Director of Health, José González.
The authorities were welcomed by Paul Beare, the President of the British Hospital's Board of Directors, and by Walter Pereyra, the Managing Director, with those who toured the new facilities.
Before the traditional ribbon-cutting, Beare noted that Punta del Este Clinic is the result of monitoring and understanding the needs of the population who received medical attention at the British Hospital, that increasingly share their lives between Montevideo and the eastern part of the country.
Loyal to the Institution's vocation, this fact and "the need to support the population who received medical attention at the British Hospital with answers, led to the decision to extend the health care process and support hospital scheme members in their new lifestyle with a closer health assistance," he explained.
Beare thanked the Maldonado healthcare Institutions for their collaboration and the treatment received and stated that the collaborative and complementary work with them will continue in the future.
For his part, the mayor Pereira welcomed the arrival of the British Hospital in Punta del Este, which he said will contribute to "the excellence that thousands of people is lookinf for in this part of the country."
Enrique Antía, the mayor of the municipality, stated that Punta del Este Clinic is "a pearl" for the development of the department, as "there was a demand from tourism to continue improving the healthcare area."
Privileged Location
The Punta del Este Clinic of the British Hospital has a strategic and easily accessible location on Pedragosa Sierra Street, in an area characterized by its natural beauty.
The new building stands out among the old trees of the Ralli Museum Park due to its sober and contemporary style, typical of the British Hospital, with touches of color and avant-garde design, which connect it with the rest of the city.
Perfectly integrated into the landscape, the 1,800-square-meter building, located on a 10,000-square-meter surface area, was designed with special attention and care for the environment, for which expert advice was provided.
In this first phase, 10 consulting rooms will operate, each with its own waiting rooms, designed with the functionality and comfort criteria recognized and valued by scheme members and users of the British Hospital. All will be connected to the patient database with the same speed and image resolution as doctors in Montevideo.
Primary medical specialties will be provided, blood samples will be done and received for the laboratory in the main building in Av. Italia, and electrocardiograms will be performed with online reports, ensuring continuity of health care attention and managing highly complex cases.
The master development plan for Clínica Punta del Este contemplates the possibility of easily adapting to future technological and medical demands, so new requirements can be added over time.
To achieve this, a flexible structure was designed to allow for the simple incorporation of new facilities without compromising the environmental quality or the characteristic landscaped area of ??the property and surrounding area.
Unique and eco-sustainable
The beauty and uniqueness of the new building were central objectives at the moment of its creation.
In addition to being situated in a privileged place, the building is designed with a balance of traditional Uruguayan construction technologies (reinforced concrete structure and masonry exterior walls) with the latest advances in the construction industry (ventilated facades made of synthetic materials, courtyard walls, and steel).
It features optimized solar capture in winter and minimal exposure in summer, which minimizes energy consumption for artificial air conditioning.
By developing an infrastructure specifically designed to provide high-quality healthcare services, the British Hospital strengthens the development of two pillars that accompany and support the excellent services it provides to its hospital scheme member, medical education and research.
