EVENT PLACE:
We invite you to experience the vast poetic output of the 27 Generation.
Between continuity and rupture, between purity and social protest, the 27 Generation stands almost as a second Golden Age of Spanish poetry. With the Civil War as a grand backdrop, these poets begin by admiring the aestheticism of Juan Ramón Jiménez and the culterano work of Góngora, and end up as the seed of the committed poetry of the postwar period.
The lecture "A Sad Breeze Through the olives " is a journey through the enormous poetic output of this unique generation. Federico García Lorca, Rafael Alberti, Vicente Aleixandre, Dámaso Alonso, Manuel Altolaguirre, Luis Cernuda, Gerardo Diego, the Sinsombrero group, Pedro Salinas, Gabriel Celaya, and Miguel Hernández will be some of the poets we will explore over the course of an hour and a half.
